What is hand painted bleach apparel?

Hand painted bleach apparel is a form of wearable art created by applying bleach onto dark colored fabric. The bleach removes pigment from fabric, creating a piece of art you can wear.

Do you create every piece by hand?

Yes! Every design is sketched and hand painted by me. I have sketches in sketchbooks and on my iPad which I then transfer onto garments, and/or sketch directly onto with chalk, then paint.

What types of clothing do you use?

I use high quality garments, like 100% cotton or a high cotton blend, such as T-shirts, hoodies, and long sleeves. I like to practice on different garments and brands to ensure the bleach holds up over time. Primarily garments with a heavy weight fabric are used.

Is the design permanent?

Yes! The bleach removes the pigment from the fabric, making the artwork a permanent part of the garment. It will not fade or crack over time and will always have that soft feel.

How long does it take to create a piece?

The creation process can take a few hours to a few days, depending on the complexity of the design. Additional time is needed for the care and treatment of the garment before it is ready to be worn.

CARE

How do I wash my apparel?

Wash your pieces separately in cold water with mild soap on a gentle cycle using a machine. HAND WASHING IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Can I use a dryer?

To preserve the longevity of the fabric, I recommend to air dry your piece. High heat can weaken the fabric, especially after bleaching, if you are to use a dryer, do not add a big load and dry separately. Use on delicate setting or low heat.

Is the apparel safe to wear after being bleached?

Yes! I use a multi step process, ensuring all bleach residue is removed and bleach is deactivated. Each garment is neutralized, thoroughly rinsed, hand wash and air dried prior to being sent to you.

Why do you neutralize bleach?

If left untreated, the bleach applied will weaken the fabric over time causing damage. Each garment is soaked in a hydrogen peroxide solution to neutralize and ensure your work of art lasts forever.

EXCHANGES AND RETURNS

What is your policy for returns and exchanges?

Due to the custom and one of a kind nature of my work, all sales are final. I do not offer returns or exchanges on custom pieces under most circumstances, as long as they are unworn, undamaged, and are sent back in original packaging. To prevent this, I'd advise to make sure you are ordering the correct size. With commissions, please review design sketches carefully before giving your final approval.

What if my item arrives damaged?

I take great care in packaging products to ensure they arrive safely. If your item is damaged during shipping, please contact me within 7 days of delivery with photos of the damaged piece of packaging. I will work with you on the resolution.
